Iris Bertani si è laureata in Biologia presso l’Università di Trieste (Italia) nel 1993 e ha iniziato a lavorare nel laboratorio di Batteriologia dell’ICGEB sotto la guida del Prof. Vittorio Venturi. Si è concentrata sui sistemi di comunicazione batterica in patogeni opportunisti come Pseudomonas aeruginosa e Burkholderia cepacia prima e sui meccanismi che regolano la dinamica delle comunità batteriche nella rizosfera ed endosfera delle colture poi. Recentemente ha seguito progetti applicativi finalizzati all’identificazione di microrganismi utili all’agricoltura da sviluppare in biofertilizzanti.

Iris Bertani graduated in Biology from the University of Trieste (Italy) in 1993 and began working in the ICGEB Bacteriology laboratory under the guidance of Prof. Vittorio Venturi. She focused first on bacterial communication systems in opportunistic pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Burkholderia cepacia and then on the mechanisms that regulate the dynamics of bacterial communities in the rhizosphere and endosphere of crops. She has recently followed application projects aimed at identifying microorganisms useful for agriculture to be developed into biofertilizers.
