È curatrice del progetto Art & Science del Joint Research Centre della Commissione Europea. Con una formazione in Fisica, Filosofia, Storia della Scienza, Arte Contemporanea e Studi sul Patrimonio Mondiale, Caterina coltiva un profondo interesse per i sistemi scientifici e le pratiche creative, l’estetica e l’epistemologia, e l’interazione tra indagine scientifica, ricerca artistica e impegno sociale. Negli ultimi 15 anni ha lavorato all’incrocio tra scienza-arte-patrimonio, con particolare attenzione alla transdisciplinarità, alle collaborazioni arte-scienza, alle arti e al patrimonio, dove l’arte è intesa come modalità di ricerca e indagine. Ha lavorato in Germania dove ha co-fondato il KLAS (Knowledge Link Through Art & Science), un programma di residenza per artisti della Max Planck Society. È cofondatrice di Innovate Heritage, un programma in corso approvato dall’UNESCO per promuovere il dialogo e lo scambio di conoscenze tra le arti contemporanee e il patrimonio culturale.
Caterina Benincasa
Caterina Benincasa is the curator of the art & science project of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. With a background in Physics, Philosophy, History of Science, Contemporary Art and World Heritage Studies, Caterina cultivates a deep interest in science systems and creative practices, aesthetics & epistemology, and the interplay between scientific inquiry, artistic research and societal engagement. For the past 15 years she has been working at the crossroads of science-art-heritage, with a focus on transdisciplinarity, art-science collaborations, arts & heritage - where art is intended as a mode of research and inquiry. She was based in Germany where she co-founded KLAS (Knowledge Link Through Art & Science), an artist-in-residence programme of the Max Planck Society. She is the co-founder of Innovate Heritage, an ongoing programme endorsed by UNESCO to foster dialogue and knowledge exchange between the contemporary arts and heritage.
