Herbert Dreiner è nato nel Massachusetts, Stati Uniti, e si è trasferito in Germania all’età di 10 anni. A scuola era un membro del gruppo teatrale. Ha conseguito la laurea in fisica all’Università di Bonn e il dottorato in fisica teorica delle particelle elementari. all’Università del Wisconsin, Madison, USA. Ha lavorato come ricercatore ad Amburgo, Oxford e Zurigo e nel 1995 è stato assunto al Rutherford Lab, nel Regno Unito. Nel 2000 è stato nominato professore ordinario a Bonn. A dicembre 2001 ha fondato insieme a Michael Kortmann il Physics Show dell’Università di Bonn.
Sotto la loro guida gli spettacoli vengono ideati ed eseguiti dagli studenti di fisica dell’Università di Bonn.
Gli spettacoli hanno fatto il tour in tutta la Germania, in Europa (Amsterdam, Copenaghen, Ginevra, Londra, Lisbona, Madrid, Padova), e anche a Pechino. Nel 2009 il Physics Show di Bonn ha vinto il premio della European
Physical Society (EPS) per la divulgazione della fisica delle alte energie
Herbert Dreiner
Herbert Dreiner was born in Massachusetts, USA and moved to Germany when he was 10. In
school he was a member of the drama group. He got his BA in Physics at the University of Bonn
and his PhD at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA in theoretical elementary particle physics.
Afterwards he worked as a reasearcher in Hamburg, Oxford, and Zurich before his first
permanent job at the Rutherford Lab, UK, in 1995. In 2000 he was appointed full professor in Bonn.
In Dec. 2001 he founded the University of Bonn Physics Show together with Michael Kortmann.
Under their guidance the shows are developed and performed by the University of Bonn physics students.
They have been performing physics shows all over Germany and Europe (Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Geneva,
London, Lisbon, Madrid, Padua, ...), and even in Beijing ever since. In 2009 the
Bonn University Physics Show was awarded the high-energy physics outreach prize of the European
Physical Society (EPS).
