Astrofisico di formazione ma curioso di tutto per vocazione, da sempre svolge la sua ricerca in cosmologia astrofisica soprattutto con simulazioni numeriche. Con il tempo si è sempre più spostato verso l’High Performance Computing, con la sensazione che risolvere problemi complessi sviluppando (o anche solo capendo) algoritmi brillanti fosse divertente e fosse una ginnastica di intelligenza. “AI”, un termine in sé malposto nella sua esotica risonanza: sarà un cambio di paradigma tecnologico o solo un accelleratore? La risposta non è del tutto chiara, e la domanda rimane decisamente intrigante

strophysicist by training but curious about everything by nature, I've always focused my research on astrophysical cosmology, mainly through numerical simulations. It came naturally to me, probably because as a teenager, I used to tackle weird problems like programming a computer to create and solve mazes before heading out to play basketball with my friends. Over time, I got more into High Performance Computing, feeling that solving complex problems by developing (or even just understanding) brilliant algorithms is both fun and a good workout for the brain. "AI"—a term with an oddly exotic ring to it—will it be a technological paradigm shift or just an accelerator? The answer isn't entirely clear, and the question remains super intriguing.
