Nicola Torelli è professore ordinario di Statistica presso l’Università di Trieste. È stato Direttore del Dipartimento di Scienze Economiche, Aziendali, Matematiche e Statistiche. Attualmente tiene vari corsi di teoria e metodi statistici in corsi universitari e post lauream. Ha insegnato nelle Università di Bologna e di Padova. È stato Presidente della Società Italiana di Statistica, fondatore e coordinatore del Gruppo Statistica e Data Science della Società Italiana di Statistica. I suoi recenti campi di interesse scientifico sono: tecniche di classificazione supervisionata e non supervisionata e modelli gerarchici bayesiani con applicazioni.

Nicola Torelli is a Full Professor of Statistics at the University of Trieste. He has been Head of the Department of Economics, Business, Mathematics and Statistics. He teaches various courses on statistical theory and methods in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Formerly he was a professor at the University of Bologna and Padua. He has been President of the Italian Statistical Society and was the founder and coordinator of the Statistics and Data Science Group of the Italian Statistical Society. His recent fields of scientific interest are: Supervised and unsupervised classification techniques and Bayesian Hierarchical Models with applications.
